a comparison between the outdated pressure washing method and the safer
"power washing" method.
For years, pressure washing has been one of the only means for cleaning a home.The pressure washer takes water from the outside water source and turns it into a highly pressurized stream of water. The supercharged water is then used to power through the dirt and grime, physically blasting the surface clean. And that is perfectly fine as long as the surface can withstand the pressure. Unfortunately… most building materials cannot and permanent damage is almost always the result.Pressure washers can and will: • Peel away paint from surfaces like the wood and metal trim around doors & windows. • Etch the brick and remove the mortar joint that holds the bricks together. • Gouge and splinter wood and composite decks. • Shatter glass windows. • Destroy the weather seals around the doors and windows. • Rot the wood behind the siding, because of water being forced in and behind it. • Blow the siding off the house • Damage roof shingles beyond repair... and so on...The most shocking fact about this is… all of this damage can be done at pressures of 1200 psi or less! And almost all pressure washers will produce between 2500 to 4000 psi of pressure… even the cheap electric ones. So it doesn't matter if you are an expert or novice, that kind of pressure will damage the home.Despite all of the damage that’s been done to homes, many contractors still abide by the older ways of doing things. this includes the use of high-pressure equipment, outdated cleaning practices and the use of inferior cleaning detergents to wash with.Over the past 20 years or so, chemists have continued to develop newer and safer cleaning solutions to work with. Just look in your own cabinet at all of the cleaners you have. Likewise, some chemists were hired and worked hand in hand with major manufactures of products like: vinyl siding, pressure treated lumber, aluminum gutters, metal or shingle roofs, concrete, etc. to produce cleaners that effectively clean those surface's without doing any damage what-so-ever. And once a cleaner passed their tests… the manufacturers then provide recommendations on how and what to clean their product with.Sadly, many cleaning companies fail to educate themselves with the updated information. Or worse yet… they refuse to change. Many decide to use homeowner grade cleaning solutions that can be purchased from “box stores” (Wal-mart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) which can actually do just as much damage if not more than high pressure. • The solution is given a specific amount of "dwell time", allowing it to work.• The solution, dirt and grime are then rinsed off, all while using LOW PRESSURE (350 psi or less) to ensure the safety of your house. and 3-story homes and buildings WITHOUT the use of ladders.
What does this mean to you?
It means that there is no risk of ladder slippage, falling, scuff marks on the side of your house because of the ladder, or broken windows.
Our Specialized Equipment never goes above 350 psi (unless we are cleaning concrete). In many cases, your water hose may be producing more pressure than our equipment. But on the flip side, we are putting out between 5.5-10 gallons of water per minute. We are able to place our hands directly in the stream of water without being harmed by it. Try this with a pressure washer and you could easily lose some fingers or worse!

Well, it is no secret that hot water does clean fast. But again, can the surface withstand scalding hot water? The answer is: probably not. Unless you are trying to remove grease or gum from concrete, hot water can do just as much damage as high pressure.
